The facility must have enough clean water for its workload, cleaning and drinking-water needs.

Bathing outlets must have controllable water flow and temperature, without unsafe changes or a risk of scalding.

The water supply must be protected from contamination, including backflow protection where required.

EG5.2: Drainage and wastewater disposal

Wastewater must be contained and taken to a lawful disposal point suitable for the facility. Hair and solids must be collected before they enter drainage systems.

Grooming wastewater must not enter stormwater drains, waterways or the roadside.

Relevant sewer, trade-waste and on-site wastewater requirements must be met. Wastewater must not be discharged onto land unless this has been confirmed as permitted and suitable.

Wastewater must be contained and directed to a lawful disposal point appropriate to the site. Hair and solids must be intercepted before entering drainage systems. Grooming wastewater must not be discharged to stormwater, waterways or the roadside. Any sewer, trade-waste or on-site wastewater conditions must be met; disposal to land must not occur without confirmation that it is permitted and suitable.

EG5.3: Solid and contaminated waste

Hair, faeces, soiled materials and other waste must be collected promptly and kept in suitable containers away from dogs and clean supplies.

Bins must be emptied often enough to prevent odour, pests and overflow.

Broken blades and other sharp waste must be safely contained and disposed of in a way that prevents injury.

EG5.4: Waste-system failures

Leaks, blocked drains, sewage backflow, overflowing tanks and water loss must be dealt with promptly.

The affected area or mobile unit must not operate until there is enough water and safe, hygienic conditions have been restored.

The business must have a practical arrangement for stopping work and cleaning up.
