Separate rooms are not required where the same outcome can be achieved through the layout, suitable barriers or using the space at different times.

EG2.2: Floors, walls and wet areas
Floors must be safe, reasonably slip-resistant, maintained in good condition and capable of being effectively cleaned.
Wet areas must have water-resistant surfaces and a way to remove water without ongoing pooling. Walls and splash areas must withstand the cleaning they need.
Mats must not create trip hazards. Damaged surfaces must not trap dirt or contamination.

The building and its fittings must be maintained in good condition and free from avoidable hazards.
This includes leaks, damp, mould, broken fittings, sharp edges, falling objects and places where a dog could become trapped.
Unsafe areas must be repaired or securely closed off until they are safe to use.
