Pets in the City Central Bark is a proudly locally owned and operated dog daycare, hotel, grooming and training facility in the heart of Parnell, owned by Laura and Layamon Bakewell. Originally established as Central Bark, the business has been caring for Auckland dogs for many years and became part of the Pets in the City family in 2025. Laura and Layamon are passionate about providing exceptional standards of care and creating a place where dogs are known as individuals, not simply as customers. Our experienced team provides professional dog daycare, overnight accommodation, grooming and training, with a strong focus on safety, enrichment, socialisation and the individual needs of every dog in our care. As part of the wider Pets in the City network, Central Bark combines the personal feel and established community of a much-loved Parnell dog care facility with the systems, expertise and high standards of one of New Zealand’s leading professional pet care providers.
